Questions? Get Answers to Call for Abstracts FAQs

The 2016 abstract submission site has been open for 2 weeks. To help you meet the submission deadline of Dec. 1, 2015, we compiled a list of FAQ’s that have been popular in recent years. If you have a question not listed here, write it in the comments below and DDW Administration staff will answer it shortly.

Q: Can a researcher submit an abstract to DDW that has already been submitted to another meeting?

A: If submitted to a national meeting, no. If international, yes.

Q: Can I submit an abstract that will be presented as a poster on ACP-PR chapter?

A: No, I’m sorry. Since it was submitted to a national meeting, it cannot be submitted. Puerto Rico is considered domestic.

Q: Does DDW allow case studies or vignettes to be submitted?

A: Yes! (Please note that case studies or vignettes are not eligible for late-breaking abstract submissions.)

Q: Is there a cost associated with submitting an abstract to DDW?

A: Yes, there is a $60 abstract processing fee that is non-refundable. There is a $120 abstract processing fee for late-breaking submissions.

Q: Is there a word or character count limit?

A: Yes, 255 characters for title, 2900 characters for abstract body. Count is shown on green bar above the instructions.

Tip: There are abstracts on hundreds on different topics submitted.

Q: Can I view all submission categories prior to submitting?

Q: How are abstracts reviewed?

A: Blinded, peer-review selection process.

Q: Is there a maximum number of authors one can list on an abstract?

A: No, there is no limit to the number of authors one can list on an abstract

Q: Do all co-authors have to submit financial disclosures?

A: Yes, all listed co-authors will be sent an email with directions to log in to the system and complete a FULL financial disclosure. If the abstract is selected, further communication will be sent to resolve any potential conflicts.

Q: When will submitters be notified regarding selection?

A: Notifications will be emailed on Feb. 16, 2016. Please note if an abstract is selected for presentation the notification will be sent to the author marked as the presenter.

Q: Is there a Late-Breaking Abstract (LBA) submission option?

A: Yes! All four societies will collaborate to review basic and clinical LBA submissions. The submission site will open on Feb. 1, 2016, and close on Feb. 17, 2016. The abstract processing fee is $120 and is non-refundable.

The submission deadline is Dec. 1 at 9 p.m. ET. Note, this year’s deadline is the Tuesday following U.S. Thanksgiving. Submit abstracts at http://ddw2016.abstractcentral.com.
